As a small business owner, Rep. Zullo understands the State's difficult tax climate.  In 2021, Rep. Zullo opposed legislation creating a new tax on every home buyer in the State.  In 2019, he opposed expanding the sales tax and fought along with his colleagues to eliminate the business entity tax.

Opposing the "Highway Use Tax"

In 2021, Rep. Zullo opposed legislation (SB 6688) creating a "highway use fee," which would hurt consumers by increasing prices on all goods shipped on our roads.  In 2022, he supported efforts to rollback the highway use tax to provide economic relief from surging national inflation.

Supporting Criminal Justice Reform

In 2023, Rep. Zullo, in speaking on H.B. 5197, expressed concerns about the implementation of traffic cameras and support for reforms to the criminal justice system to reduce crime, empower police departments, and hold criminals accountable for their actions.

Protecting Families and Children

In 2023, Rep. Zullo championed legislation expanding access to quality group and family child care.  In 2021, Rep. Zullo supported increasing tax exemptions for senior citizens (H.B. 6458).  In 2019, Rep. Zullo voted for legislation (P.A. 19-52) strengthening school safety measures and (P.A. 19-116).

Fighting for Transparent Government

In 2021 (H.B. 6576) and 2023 (S.B. 1157), Rep. Zullo fought against legislation that would have shielded elected officials from public oversight by making it harder for members of the public to submit information requests about the people who serve them in State government.

Helping First Time Homebuyers

In 2023 (H.B. 6558), against the backdrop of rising interest rates and a national housing shortage Rep. Zullo co-sponsored legislation allowing towns to offer a $500 dollar per year (up to 5 years)  tax abatement to help first-time homebuyers overcome  and acquire safe, quality housing.

Protecting Local Zoning Control

In 2021, as ranking member of the "Planning and Development" Committee, Rep. Zullo opposed Public Act 21-29, which sought to impose State mandates on local zoning and infringe on local zoning control.

Addressing the Student Loan Crisis

In 2023, working across the aisle, Rep. Zullo championed legislation to create a student loan reimbursement program to help young people overcome the crippling effects of student loans (H.B. 6901).

Opposing the
"Gas Tax"

In 2021, Rep. Zullo rallied with residents and legislators across the State to oppose a new "transportation and climate initiative" (TCI), which would have raised gas prices at every pump across the State.

Supporting Veterans and Service Members

Rep. Zullo supported P.A. 19-171, which increased property tax exemptions for certain disabled service members and veterans.
